Handmade Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Choosing the perfect gift is always so difficult for me! Especially when I’m shopping for my mom. Often times I feel like whatever I get won’t be good enough because she could just buy it herself! She does have lots more money than me, after all 🙂

That’s why I usually go with something handmade! When you make something with your own two hands, no one can be mad about it (cuz that’s just rude). The time and effort you put into making something beautiful for someone is priceless.

This year, I’m gifting my mom a floral embroidered art piece. It’s something I know she will love because I made it myself and because it’s just really cute!

Another idea is this “Home Is Where Your Mom Is” hoop. It’s a lovely reminder that no matter where you live or what your circumstances are, home is wherever your mom is.

Give your mom the best Mother’s Day gift this year – something handmade, and made with love from the heart.

Good Vibes Only Embroidery Pattern

Good Vibes Only. Since I’ve started teaching, Ive tried to adopt this motto into my life. I figure I can’t control how other people act around me and what kind of “vibes” they give off, but I can control the “vibes” I give off.

The easier choice is to be negative. Negativity is contagious and it brings other people down. As a teacher, I am around so many different kinds o people. Some are positive and happy to be around. Others are negative and I’ve learned that its really easy to match their negativity.

I’ve noticed that when I am happy and pleasant with my coworkers, parents, and my 2nd grade class, they are happy and pleasant in response. I’ve also noticed that as I focus on positivity, it is easier to be around negative people. I am able to ignore, in a sense, the negativity and pass along some positivity.

I know I can’t force others to have “good vibes,” but I make an effort to share my “good vibes” and I am happier for it. 🙂

I created this hoop to remind me to be positive and to pass along good vibes to those I come in contact with. I am not perfect at it, but I try. I made this design into a pattern so that others could embroider it for themselves and have this reminder to pass along positivity.

This design is available as both a pattern and kit.

The pattern comes as an electronic PDF embroidery pattern. It is intended for intermediate to advanced stitchers, but with the “Beginners Embroidery Guide” included, a beginner could also complete this hoop!

The digital PDF pattern includes:

-instructions (including what stitches to use, thread colors, and pictures to help you along the way)

-A Beginner’s Embroidery Guide (This beginner’s guide will teach you all about your materials, how to transfer your pattern onto fabric and place the fabric in your hoop, how to thread your needle, and how to begin stitching your design)

The embroidery kit includes every thing you need to create your own hoop art of the “Good Vibes Only” hoop. This pattern is fun for intermediate to advanced stitchers. It can also be completed by beginners with the help of the “Beginner’s Embroidery Guide.”

EMBROIDERY KIT Includes:
-Pattern (you will need to trace the pattern onto your fabric)
-Instructions for using your pattern (pictures included)

-Pink linen fabric
-Cotton fabric (optional to make your hoop more sturdy)

Home Is Where Your Mom Is Embroidery Pattern

Sometimes I feel like giving gifts is extremely difficult. How can you let someone you love know how much you care for them by giving them a gift? Sometimes that task feels impossible. Whenever I feel like no gift could possibly be enough to express what I want it to, I turn to making something with my hands. This way, no one can be mad about their gift because you spent time and energy making them something that you felt would be meaningful! And if they do hate it, at lest they can’t tell you without looking like a jerk! haha

This pattern was something I initially came up with for Mother’s Day. For some reason, giving a gift to my mom feels like an impossible task. Firstly, anything I buy, my mom could buy herself if she really wanted to. And secondly, how can you accurately express your appreciation and love to the woman who gave birth to you, raised you, and continues to support you throughout your life? That task feels overwhelming to me.

This pattern is something I made with my mom in mind. I know she appreciates when I take the time to make her something with my hands, and the message of “Home Is Where Your Mom Is” is a beautiful saying that couldn’t be more true.

Every mom wants to know that her children love her and think of her as being their “home.” I don’t live at home anymore. I now live in Utah where I live with my husband and we are expecting a child of our own. But still, I consider going back to Arizona where my mom lives “going home.”

Grab this pattern, or kit if you need all the materials, and make it for your mom! It could be a Mothers’s Day present, birthday present, Christmas present, or “just because” present. 🙂
