Hoop Backing for Kids

This is a simple tutorial for backing an embroidery hoop. I recommend using this method for kids. You can reference the pictures below or visit this video tutorial for help.

  1. Cut the fabric around the hoop into a circle.
  2. Stitch around the edge of the fabric, going over and under the fabric.

3. Once you’ve gone around the entire circle, remove the needle and pull the ends of the thread until the fabric is gathered.

4. Tie the ends of the thread together in a knot. Now you’re finished!

If you want to completely cover the back of your hoop with felt, check out this blog post for help.

This video tutorial will teach you how to tie off the back of your embroidery so that the thread does not come loose.

This method works for tying off the back of your embroidered HOOP. I also like to use this method when embroidering on CLOTHING. It is a safe way to secure your beautiful stitches.

Follow these steps:

First, take your needle under a stitch you’ve already created, allowing a loop to form.

Then pull your needle through the loop you created and pull tight.

Do this twice to create your knot.

That’s it! See the video tutorial for additional help!
